Mequon Community events signboard
During the 1970's the club donated a signboard located at the northeast corner of Mequon and Cedarburg Roads to the Mequon-Thiensville community. In the many decades of its existence, the board provided a voice to countless community organizations and events.
In 2013 the club replaced the sign with an electronic signboard with a timeless design which will serve the community for years to come. We were so pleased to work with the City of Mequon, not only on the redevelopment of the signboard but with the master planning and redevelopment of the northeast corner of Mequon and Cedarburg Roads. Landscape architect Kerry Mattingly (Treetop Landscaping) designed a beautiful master plan which transforms the currently loud and busy corner into a beautiful and peaceful space. The design creates a sense of place and cohesively connects the corner with the river and adjacent Rotary Riverwalk. His design includes the community events signboard (Phase 1), a natural amphitheater and an arch welcoming people to the community. Paths and seating will draw pedestrians into the area, which will in turn lead to the Rotary's Riverwalk area. The new signboard is considered Phase 1 and was completed in 2013, while the City of Mequon will be working on the development of the subsequent phases. |
Thiensville entryway features
The Junior Woman's Club of Mequon-Thiensville was delighted to make a donation in January 2015 to the Village of Thiensville for the refurbishment of the four entryway features. Located along Main Street, the original entryway features were constructed 30 years ago. The 2015 renovation included an expansion, general renovation and expanded landscaping features.
"Its been gratifying and enjoyable working with the Village administration in their dedication to make the community a better place to live and visit," says Kerry Mattingly, owner of Treetops Landscape Design. "Their goal of respecting and maintaining the craftsmanship of the past is reflected in the architectural upgrade of the entry monuments. We've tried to follow their objectives with a variety of plantings that create an impression that says welcome to our community." --Mequon-Thiensville Today, Autumn 2015
